Terms of Use — Musée
Effective: 10 July 2026
Agreement. By using Musée you agree to these terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the standard EULA: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/).
What the app does. Musée teaches French through art: it presents artworks with French phrases and tracks your learning progress on your device. It is a learning tool.
Best-effort disclaimer. Lessons, translations, artwork descriptions, and review scheduling are provided on a best-effort basis. Musée may contain errors or simplifications and is NOT professional instruction, certification, or translation advice; do not rely on it as your sole source for high-stakes use.
Purchases. Musée offers an optional auto-renewing Patron subscription (yearly or monthly). Patron subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Prices are shown in the app before any purchase.
Content & intellectual property. The artworks are public-domain or CC0 works, provided through museums' open-access programs and our own hosted copies. We claim no ownership of the underlying public-domain art and make no warranty about the rights status of any particular work in your jurisdiction. The app's original pedagogical content — the French phrases, notes, pronunciations, audio, and the selection and arrangement of it all — is ours, provided for personal, non-commercial study within the app only; it may not be copied, extracted, scraped, redistributed, or used to train any model.
Disclaimer of warranties. Musée is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind — express, implied, or statutory — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any translation, description, or other content is accurate, complete, or suitable for any purpose. You use Musée at your own risk.
Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of Musée; and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Musée in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $20. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be waived under the consumer-protection law that applies to you.
Indemnification. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of Musée, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of any right of another.
Acceptable use. Don't reverse engineer, resell, scrape, or use the app or its content unlawfully or to build a competing product or dataset.
Changes. We may update these terms; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
Governing law. The Province of Nova Scotia, Canada, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules — except where the mandatory consumer law of your own country or state gives you rights that override this.
Severability & entire agreement. If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These terms, together with Apple's standard EULA and our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Musée.
